reroute and new bridge at the fells
Rode the fells yesterday. Couldn't get there till 6:30 due to a flat on the Singlespeed on the commute home last night.
It was a good ride, but hard ride since I decided that it would be a good Idea to ONLY use the middle chainring the entire ride. I covered 9 miles in about 1:25:00. Though my cyclocomputor estimated my ride time as being 1:12:21. I arrived back to the car at 7:55 since my ride began at 6:30. I stopped a few times to catch my breath for 30 seconds each time. the rest of the time was a hammerfest. Though some may percieve this time as slow but by my riding standards, this was a very quick paced ride. There were a few struggling climbs, but overall I think I had some of my best technical climbs. I think I did it as test to see if should race at the North Shore classic. Still debating that idea, not really looking forward to pushing a 30lbs. bike in a race against 25lbs and under bikes.
There were some noticeable trail changed in some parts in the fells. Due to recent flooding around the area, a couple of parts got completely rerouted, old trails were washed out and new twisty single track created that opened up to a new bridge. Wish I had been to the trail maintenance days to help out but time would incriminate me to do other things. I am a little melancholy about this new bridge. In a way I enjoy the flow of the trail, easier to get on, easier to get off and move along. However the old rock garden immediately after the bridge was once a welcoming technical endeavor. I as well as others I have ridden with would have a few do over attempts to make a solid line. I have fallen over on meny attempts, but being bruised and battered would only push my ego to try again until success.
Next time I ride, I will bring a camera with me as to document some of the riding and trails I do in the area.
