Yukon Ridge

a view of Mt. Greylock, highest peak in Massachusetts at 3491 feet.

The weekend was spent in the Berkshires as Michelle's parents were in South Lee at Oak and Spruce Ressort on their time share. I spent both Saturday and Sunday mountain biking in the Yukon Ridge, along the Burbank trails and Kennedy Park.

Although I must have climbed at least 1800 feet five times, it was all worth it as the downhills were fast smooth, rolling mix of double and singletracks laces with tight narrow, trwisting trails. Trails in the Bershires along the Yukon Ridge are among the the best trails I have ridden in the state of MA.

The Burbank Trail which starts at Olivia's Overlook in Lenox MA, has the trail with the highest elevation I have climbed. I took fewer stops this time around, but still could not crank all the way up without a few stops to bring my heartrate back down and catch my breath. Near the top of this trail is the Gorham's Homestread and about half way down is Monk's Pond. On my third climb back up to hit the downhill again, the skies were turning dark grey and thunder was rolling above the treelines and the trails were thinning with light. I mannaged to move as fast as I could to get to the top and try to beat the impending storm that was to pass through that Saturday late afternoon.
